Alva’s Nudisiri this month

Chitradurga: Alva’s Education Society, Moodbidri will host Alva’s Nudisiri-2008, a three-day convention on Kannada language and culture, at Moodbidri from November 28.

The theme of the convention will be “Kannada Mannassu - Shakti Maththu Vyapthi” (Kannada Mind – Power and Purview).

The society secretary K. Ramprasad told presspersons here on Monday that poet Dr. K.S. Nisar Ahmed will inaugurate the event. Nadoj award winner Dr Chennaveera Kanavi will preside over the function. A book titled “Kannada Manassu-Sahitiya Jawabdari” will be released on the occasion.

Mr. Ramprasad said that the society’s president M. Mohan Alva had taken the initiative to start the event four years ago with an intention to provide a platform for cultural and folk artistes to exhibit their talent.

Besides several literary programmes, the three-day event will feature two plays. Folk artistes from across the State will also perform. On the same occasion 10 persons will be felicitated in recognition of their contribution in the field of Kannada culture.

About 15,000 people are expected to participate in the event. Mr. Ramprasad said that the society would provide free boarding and lodging facility to those interested to attend.

Filmmaker Baraguru Ramchandrappa, writers S.L. Bhairappa, Dr. Chandrashekhar Kambar and Venkatasubbaiah had presided over the convention held during the previous years, Mr. Ramprasad added.
