HUBLI: Nearly 15,000 persons from across the State are expected to participate in Alva’s Nudi Siri, a three-day national convention of Kannada land and language to be held at Moodabidire.

Associate secretary of the executive committee of Alva’s Nudi Siri-2008, T.A.N. Khandige told presspersons here on Thursday that it was the fifth year in a row that the convention was being conducted. It would be held from November 28.

Kanavi to preside

Poet Channavaeera Kanavi would be the Sammelanadhyaksha for the convention which had the theme “Kannada mind: potential and scope”. Poet K.S. Nissar Ahmed would inaugurate the convention, he said.

Mr. Khandige said apart from literary sessions, which would be attended by writers and scholars, there would be cultural programmes on the three days.

He said that last year 8,000 students from across the State had participated in the convention.

Free accommodation

Alva’s Education Foundation, which was organising the event, would provide free accommodation and food to the participants.

Food and accommodation would be provided to other participants also, but they would be charged a nominal fee of Rs. 100 for three days, he said.

Felicitation

As many as 10 litterateurs would be felicitated during the valedictory ceremony of the convention, and Dharmasthala Dharmadhikari Veerendra Heggade would deliver the valedictory address, he said.
